About This Item
Walk your cat with confidence — knowing they can’t slip free.
Standard cat collars are a slip risk — a startled cat can back out of a collar in seconds. The SafeStep™ H-Style Harness distributes contact across both the neck and chest with two independent adjustment points, making it significantly harder for even the most determined escape artist to wriggle free. Soft nylon webbing, quick-release buckles, and a matching 120cm leash included. Sized from XS to L for cats of all builds.
Why Cat Parents Choose SafeStep™
🔒 H-Style Dual-Strap Design — Escape-Resistant
The H-style configuration wraps around both the neck and chest independently, with separate adjustment points for each. This dual-contact design prevents the backward slip that makes standard collars and single-loop harnesses unsafe for outdoor use.
🧵 Soft Nylon Webbing — Comfortable for Extended Wear
Lightweight, smooth nylon webbing sits gently against your cat’s coat without rubbing or matting. Comfortable enough for longer outdoor sessions without causing irritation — important for cats still building confidence with harness wear.
⚡ Quick-Release Buckles
Snap on and off in seconds without threading straps over your cat’s head. Particularly useful for cats that become anxious during the harnessing process — faster on means less stress before the walk even begins.
📏 Fully Adjustable — XS to L
Independent neck and chest adjustment points accommodate a wide range of body shapes and sizes — from small kittens to larger adult cats. A precise fit is essential for both comfort and escape prevention.
🧶 120cm Matching Leash Included
The included leash is the right length for outdoor exploration — enough freedom for your cat to investigate their surroundings while keeping them safely within reach.
How to Fit the SafeStep™ Harness Correctly
A correctly fitted harness is the difference between secure and escapable. Take time to get the fit right before your first outdoor walk.
- Measure your cat’s neck and chest girth before selecting a size.
- Loosen all straps fully before putting the harness on.
- Fasten the neck strap first, then the chest strap.
- Adjust the neck strap so you can slide two fingers underneath — snug but not tight.
- Adjust the chest strap the same way.
- Check that neither strap can be pulled over your cat’s head or shoulders when you apply gentle backward pressure.
- Attach the leash and allow your cat to walk around indoors before going outside.
Tip: Introduce the harness indoors first. Let your cat wear it for short periods without the leash attached, rewarding calm behaviour with treats. Most cats adjust within a few sessions.
Ideal For
- Indoor cats being introduced to supervised outdoor exploration
- Cats that have previously escaped from collars or single-loop harnesses
- Travel — vet visits, car journeys, or new environments where escape risk is higher
- Anxious cats that benefit from the security of a well-fitted, stable harness
- Owners who want to enrich their cat’s life with safe outdoor time
Important: Supervision & Safety
The SafeStep™ is designed for supervised outdoor use only. Never leave your cat unattended while wearing a harness and leash — the leash can become tangled and pose a safety risk. Always check the fit before each outing and re-adjust if your cat’s weight changes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is it truly escape-proof?
The H-style dual-strap design is significantly more escape-resistant than single-loop harnesses and collars. However, no harness is completely escape-proof — correct fit is essential. Always check both adjustment points before each outing and never leave your cat unattended on a leash.
My cat hates wearing a harness. Will this work?
Most cats can be harness-trained with patience and positive reinforcement. Start by leaving the harness near your cat’s sleeping area so they become familiar with the scent. Progress to short indoor wear sessions with treats, then gradually introduce the leash. See the fitting guide above for a step-by-step approach.
Is it suitable for kittens?
Yes. The XS size fits small kittens. Measure carefully and re-check the fit regularly as kittens grow quickly. Introduce harness wear early for the best long-term results — kittens adapt faster than adult cats.
Can I use it for car travel?
Yes. The harness keeps your cat secure during vet visits and car journeys. For in-car use, attach the leash to a seatbelt adaptor or secure the leash to a fixed point to prevent your cat from moving around the vehicle.
