How to Deshed Effectively with ShedEase™
For best results, follow this grooming sequence:
- Ensure your pet’s coat is dry and free of major tangles before deshedding — wet coats are harder to work through and can cause the teeth to drag.
- Work in sections, starting from the neck and moving toward the tail.
- Brush in the direction of coat growth using long, smooth strokes.
- Apply gentle, consistent pressure — enough to reach the undercoat without pressing into the skin.
- Clear accumulated fur from the teeth every few strokes to maintain effectiveness.
- Finish with a standard slicker brush to remove any remaining loose surface fur.

Will it work on my short-haired dog?
The ShedEase™ is designed for double-coated and long-haired breeds. For short single-coated breeds with no undercoat, a rubber grooming mitt or soft bristle brush is more appropriate.
Is it safe for cats?
Yes, for long-haired cats. Use with lighter pressure than you would on a dog — cat skin is more sensitive. Work in short sections and watch for any signs of discomfort. Not recommended for short-haired cats.
How do I clean the brush?
Pull accumulated fur from the teeth after each use — most fur releases easily by hand. For a deeper clean, use a fine-tooth comb to clear fur from between the teeth. Wipe the handle with a damp cloth. Do not submerge in water.
